• Honor the female spirit.
• Give your daughter age-appropriate responsibilities.

As An Individual

• Represent a girl's interest.
• Participate in organized youth activities.
• Volunteer at a girl's program.
• Volunteer to coach a girl's team.
• Organize a community program.
• Make every girl you see feel special. Smile at her!

As an Employer

• Promote balance in the work place.
• Adopt a girls' program.
• Make a donation, provide volunteers, offer in-kind support.
• Provide matching funds to local organizations that support girls and young women.
• Match employees' contributions to organizations.
• Train managers to recognize the difference in learning styles.
• Host Work-Life education forums.
• Create a print and video library for parents.
• Create a company bulletin board for employees to display their children's work.
• Become involved in the public policy debate about girls and women.
• Support an environment free of sexual harassment.

As An Educator

• Encourage girls to actively participate in class.
• Create a Woman's History library.
• Train staff to recognize the differences in learning styles.
• Reinforce that being smart is something to be proud of.
• Develop programming that values the female perspective.

• Educate on careers that reach the potential of every girl.

As A Social Services Provider

• Target hours to accommodate working families.
• Assist with transportation needs.
• Insist that girls be safe at all times.
• Speak when you see girls mistreated.
• Assist other providers in becoming aware of interventions, research, and support services specially developed for girls.
• Refer families to Girls Inc. GirlSMART family strengthening program.

As A Neighbor

• Read to a girl. Listen to her read!
• Get involved - a girl is more likely to succeed in school if a caring adult is involved in her progress.
• Learn to love noise! Make your home a place where girls can come to have fun, play, dance, laugh, and sing!
• Talk with a girl about her goals and dreams. Encourage big dreams!
• Offer to baby-sit younger ones so Mother and Daughter can do something special together.
